Natural Granite Slab

Same as marble slabs, Natural granite slabs are also cut from granite blocks, and granite blocks are mined from a quarry.
Different from the Granite block that people purchased for the statue, the granite slabs are famous for applying to kitchen countertops. The common size for granite slabs is 9-10 feet long and between 5 and 6 feet wide. The surface area for each slab is 45 sqft normally, but due to the waste of the cutting process, the usable surface area is usually less. Therefore, Villa kitchen countertops required more than one Natural granite slab normally. The usual thickness of the granite slab is 18mm, but it’s too thin for kitchen countertops. Consequently, the cabinet maker will use two granite slabs and laminated to 36mm thickness for kitchen countertops.

The colors of the granite slabs are vary, and we often heard about the colors Grey (G664), Blue dark (G654), Black (G684), Pink (G664), etc. These popular colors are from Fujian Province in China. The various colors of granite are due to the differing proportions of minerals contained in the stone. Potassium feldspar, sodium feldspar, and quartz are the primary components of granite. The density of granite slabs is also different, based on it, not all the granite slabs are suitable for kitchen countertops, but those granite slabs are available for paving and stair steps.

Granite slab has its own natural colors and textures, and the surface process technology will make the granite slab much suitable for different applications. The common surface process for granite slab is Polished, Honed, Flamed, and Bush Hammered.

The polished surface is usually for interior decoration such as countertops for the kitchen and bathroom. With a polished finish, the characteristics of the stone are highlighted. The colors and textures will be more vibrant. The honed surface is similar to the polished surface but without any glossy, and we can be call it matte. The flamed and bush hammered are with a rougher surface with a natural and faded appearance, but it’s with slip resistance, so these surfaces are suitable for exterior paving.
